LESSONS AT CELLOWALKER SCHOOL
Victoria offers regular weekly lessons, flexible drop-in lesson blocks and short courses. So there’s lots of different paths for you to choose from.
She is fully DBS checked and keeps up to date with safeguarding training, both online and in-person. Whatever level students wish to reach, they can learn at their own pace.
Victoria prepare students for exams, public performances, university diplomas, music college entrance auditions and music festivals.
But if students just wish to learn for the pure pleasure of making music without any pressure, she can do that too!
Victoria’s student’s general musicianship is foremost in her mind, so she incorporates music theory and aural skills into her instrumental lessons, and provides separate classes alongside too.
“She makes lessons enjoyable and inspiring and is relentlessly encouraging, helpful and good fun.”
Corinne Hagan
MAKING MUSIC FUN
“My main goal as a teacher is that my students are having fun! So I always make sure they’re learning music they enjoy. There’s nothing more frustrating than trying to learn a piece you don’t like!
With my vast range of repertoire in my music library and extensive knowledge of styles, there’s plenty choice of musical styles for students to learn. And I’m always happy to be introduced to new repertoire too!
So if there’s something in particular a student would like to play, I’m happy to help them achieve it.
I’m also big on developing a secure and well supported technique, whilst promoting good practice methods that students are easily able to rectify at home. Making good progress should be fun too!”
25 YEARS EXPERIENCE
"From the very start of learning the cello with Victoria you benefit from her professional insight to develop as a cellist and a musician. She is a brilliant teacher."
Matthew Browne
A passionate educator, Victoria has been teaching cello to all ages for over 25 years throughout the UK and abroad.
She dedicates a great deal of her career to teaching, and her philosophy of pursuing the enjoyment of music through playing is reflected in her style of teaching.
Her patient and friendly personality, coupled with a responsive approach to students needs, create an environment that is rich in learning and free of tension, with a great deal of laughter in the mix!
Victoria teaches at all levels from beginner to professional, to both children & adults.
She prepares students for exams, public performances, university diplomas, music college entrance auditions and music festivals. She also coaches ensembles and gives orchestral sectionals to amateur orchestras.
Victoria specialises in teaching Ergonomics - freedom of movement, balance and fluency at the cello, as taught to her by legendary teacher Steven Doane, whilst she was a post graduate Senior Exhibitioner at the Royal College of Music.
She incorporates these techniques into her unique style from the very start as a beginner, right through to conservatoire standard, and is especially experienced in remedial teaching to develop a more secure technique.
Her lessons and supporting materials promote good practice methods that students are easily able to rectify at home.
“From a relaxed body comes an open mind, and from that great things are possible!”
Victoria is well known for her excellent technical explanations, imaginative analogies, patience and unique ability to make her students feel comfortable and confident in their playing, whatever their level.
“It's easy to book, rearrange and see costs plus any materials you may need through the student portal.”

FULLY INTERACTIVE SUPPORT
“I have a fully interactive online platform for all my students to tap into. They can message me, time and log their practice and upload practice videos.
There’s also free access to my extensive music library and my new Video Support Series.
Students receive regular lesson notes so they can always keep an eye on their progress.
Plus they can download support materials to aid their practice and learning.
Parents and students can manage their invoices, make online payments, book and reschedule lessons in their online calendars.
I also help my students keep on top of their instrument maintenance and keep them posted on my favourite partners for instrument purchase and hire.
And those all important accessories!
Plus they can keep up to date with all the Cellowalker News!”
“I started out with no knowledge of the cello at all and have climbed up the foundations of it all, with the help of Victoria.”

CONTINUED ASSESSMENT
“I prepare students for both ABRSM and Trinity exams.
My track record is pretty good too, with all my students obtaining merits and distinctions!
External exams can be a great way to assess progress and give students internationally recognised goals to work towards.
But they’re not for everyone! So I also teach students for the pure enjoyment of just making great music, with no pressure.
I promote continued assessment with regular lesson notes and check-ins with parents.
Whatever avenue they choose, my student’s progress is my priority!”
“Through her website she provides zoom lessons from her studio which are as close to an in person lesson you're ever going to find!”

So I use professional condenser microphones and multiple cameras to give you the best online experience.
And I can help students get set up too!
